Apps and Sides
Here’s some of our favorite seasonal appetizers and sides.
Pumpkin-Shaped Rolls
Want something simple? Rolls are your answer! Make this Thanksgiving staple more festive by making them pumpkin shaped! Roll the dough into a ball. Using scissors, make 6-8 vertical cuts 1/2″ deep around the outside of the ball to make the lines of the pumpkin. Poke holes for stems at the top. When they’re done baking, put pecan halves in the holes for stems! Read the full recipe here.
Easy Crostinis
For an easy appetizer, tiny toasts are the way to go. Simply slice up a baguette and toast the slices. Roast grapes in the oven with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Top baguette pieces with brie, gorgonzola, or blue cheese and then top with grapes! Get the recipe here.
Stuffed Dates
Another easy appetizer is prosciutto-wrapped goat cheese-stuffed dates! You whisk together a goat cheese spread, fill the dates, wrap them in meat, and tie it off with a toothpick. Super simple, and super delicious. Read the full recipe here.
Desserts
To finish off the meal, bring one of these iconic desserts.
Single-Serve Pumpkin Pie
The easiest way to serve up pumpkin pie is in bite sized pieces! Bake or buy a pumpkin pie, and then use a sharp, round cookie cutter to cut out cupcake-size circles. Add whipped cream, and they’re ready to go. What you do with the leftover pie that doesn’t fit in circles is up to you! Get the recipe here.
Harvest Caramel Corn
Harvest caramel corn is the perfect fall treat. You can microwave or stovetop pop your popcorn. Spread it on a baking sheet, and drizzle most of a homemade caramel mixture overtop. Add your favorite snacks to the mix, like Harvest Blend M&Ms, pretzel bits, Rolo’s, and/or candy corn, and then add the rest of the caramel. Voila! You’re left with a salty and sweet dessert once it cools. Get the caramel mix and full recipe here.
Stuffed Croissants
Pumpkin pie stuffed croissants are a delicious, pumpkin-inspired treat. All it takes is a roll of Pillsbury crescent rolls and pumpkin pie filling. Make or mix pie filling, spread it across the rolls, and then roll them as you normally would, pinching the sides to contain the filling. While they bake, make a cream cheese inspired glaze using powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk. Then, drizzle the croissants once they’ve cooled. Look at all the steps here.
Chocolate Acorns
To make a super simple dessert, create miniature chocolate acorns. Melt semi sweet chocolate chips and then place in a small Ziploc bag. Snip off the corner of the bag to allow for icing. Pipe chocolate onto the flat side of each mini-Nilla wafer, and attach Hershey’s kisses. Freeze for 5 minutes, and then pipe a small bit onto the rounded side and attach a mini chocolate chip. Allow them to freeze another 5 minutes, and then they’re done! Read it all here.
